The place known as Bacchus has had a long a colourful history: in the 60s it was an infamous boozer linked with the East End gang scene (and was later used in a film about The Krays); more recently it made waves as a radical avant-garde fine dining venue fronted by Nuno Mendes.
Now it has gone back to basics and become Bacchus Pub & Kitchen, reviving old British values.
Real ales, music, Sunday roasts, and local virtues are back on the agenda, all being driven by Jon Bourke and his team.
On 05 December sample slow roasted pork belly, dripping potatoes and a homemade spiced apple chutney, accompanying Sipsmith’s fabulous gin!
